Michael Francis Szczupak (Joseph2, Paul1) was born 8 September 1892 in Parchanie, Poland. He came to Rochester, New York with his father and brother in April 1907. He married Valentina Elizabeth Kryger 19 September 1916 in St Stanislaus Church. She was born 14 February 1897 in Russia, the daughter of Charles Kryger and Victoria Serocki. The family lived at 34 Friederich Park.
Michael had many occupations including that of a tailor. In his later years he was an optical worker employed by Bausch & Lomb. About 1943 Michael bought a farmhouse and land on Canadice Hill Road, five miles northeast of Springwater, in the Town of Canadice, Ontario Country, New York. Michael commuted to work in the city and on weekends drove back to the farm. Valentina died 27 February 1947 at the age of 50 years in a tragic accident as fire destroyed the farmhouse. Valentina's mother, Victoria Kryger, age 75, and her daughter, Florence Mary, age 27, also died in the blaze. The fire was apparently caused by an overheated stove, as the house was heated by two woodburning stoves. The three are bured in St Mary's Cemetery, Honeoye. Michael died 5 August 1959 in Rochester, Minnesota and is buried in Livonia, New York. Michael and Valentina had two children: |
