He was born about 1899^[6] in Germany or Michigan^[2], the son of Charles and Anna Kirhoff^[2]. Helen worked as a Cigar Maker^[2] before her marriage. August worked as a Mechanic^[2] and Bus Repairman for the City Bus Line^[6]. The family lived on Gilman Avenue in Garden City, Michigan^[6].

Helen and August had children:

Esther H Petrusch, b. c. 1924 in Detroit MI^[6].
