Ksawery Paprocki & Leokadja

Ksawery Paprocki was born 24 Feb 1894[3,7] in Wolczki, Wilno, Russia[3,6] formerly and later part of Poland, now part of Belarus. He married Leokadja in Poland. She was born about 1901, the daughter of Mrs Maria Swiecicka.

Ksawery registered for the draft on 5 June 1917 as Kaiser Paprocki, residing at 13 Jordan Place, Cambridge, Massachusetts[3]. He was recruited for Haller's Army[4] and probably fought in the War as his return passage in 1920 was paid for by the Polish Government[5].

Ksawery made many trips back and forth between Poland and America. He and his wife were building a house in Bydgoszcz before the second World War. He had planned to go back to Poland, but his plans were interrupted by the War and afterwards times were hard in Poland. Some arrival dates in New York City are: 29 Jun 1920, 9 Dec 1922 with his wife Leokadja, 13 Feb 1929, 6 Dec 1930, 5 Dec 1931, 5 Oct 1934, 6 Nov 1937[5,6]. Leokadja also made several trips. On 16 February 1927 she arrived in New York City from Le Harve (France). She had been visiting her mother, Mrs Swiecicka in Bydgoszcz, ulica Gdanska 112. She was returning to join her husband K Paprocki, 112 Washington, Cambridge, Massachusetts. She had also taken trips in 1922 and 1926. She was traveling with Teresa who was 4 years old. Teresa was born 30 December 1923 in Cambridge, Massachusetts[6].

Xavier, as he was known in America, was a baker. He died 29 July 1978[7] in Webster, Massachusetts at the age of 84 years. Xavier and Leokadja had one child:

 iTeresa Paprocka, b. 30 Dec 1923 in Cambridge MA[6]; m. Zbigniew Kowalski in Poland; d. c. 1971 in Poland; 1 son.
